What types of veneers are there?
Veneers can be made from either composite resin or ceramic, both of which have their own advantages.
- Ceramic is a very thin and hard type of glass, which means that your veneers will be shiny and bright. Ceramic is also more resistant to staining so it’s an excellent low-maintenance option.
- Composite resin is made from a similar substance that is used in fillings and are tooth-coloured. However, as it is porous it is more liable to stain so regular polishing is recommended to keep them looking tip-top.

How long do veneers last?
If you take good care of them, composite veneers can last around 3-7 years whereas ceramic veneers can stay on average for 10-15 years. Once veneers are applied, just treat them like natural teeth. You must maintain regular oral hygiene at home and visit us for routine hygiene to ensure that your new veneers will continue to look great.
What will my teeth look like when they are reshaped for porcelain veneers?
Generally, veneers require two visits: one to shape the teeth and one to cement these natural looking veneers to the teeth. Between visits, your dentist can place attractive provisional veneers to help prevent sensitivity, allow function, and provide a nice smile. These provisional veneers are designed to be in your mouth for a limited time but should be comfortable until your new veneers are completed.
