After graduating with distinction in Dentistry from the University of Dundee in 2017, Merriem immediately commenced in her journey to advance her knowledge and skills in cosmetic dentistry, facial aesthetics, and medical-grade skincare. She has completed several post-graduate advanced courses to deliver a high standard of general and cosmetic dentistry.

Merriem’s special interests lie in carrying out short-term orthodontic Invisalign treatment, utilizing composite bonding techniques, and carrying out safe and ethical restorative work.

Merriem also joined the Facial Aesthetics Courses team in 2020 to teach others to deliver beautiful and safe aesthetics treatments. Merriem is also a brand ambassador for Obagi Medical Skincare.

Dr Amir Sharif

Dental Implantologist & Dental Surgeon | BDS, MSc, MFDS, RCPSG (Glasgow)

Dr Sharif graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2014. He completed his foundation training year in Sheffield and further went on to do core training in Aberdeen.

Whilst in Aberdeen, Dr Sharif gained a wealth of experience in the Oral and Maxillofacial Department whereby he assisted with various jaw surgeries, wisdom teeth extractions and implant treatments.

Upon completion of this year, he came back to work in general practice as a surgical and cosmetic dentist.  Whilst in practice he embarked upon a part time Masters degree in Implantology at the University of Glasgow and graduated with a Merit.

His thesis ventured into the effectiveness of digitally printed surgical guides for the placement of Implants. At The Smile Boutique Clinic Dr Sharif accepts referrals for implant treatment and surgical extractions

Dr Aidan Caulfield

Aidan is a cosmetic dentist at the practice with a particular interest in Invisalign, composite bonding & veneers.

Aidan’s biggest passion is creating smile transformations with a key emphasis on minimally invasive dentistry, in order to give you the best aesthetic outcome

Aidan has pursued several postgraduate courses after graduating from the University of Glasgow and has completed a year long Restorative & Aesthetic diploma in London with the highly acclaimed Dr Monik Vasant. He has vast experience with Invisalign clear aligners.

He has also passed further exams to gain a Membership to the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow.

Outwith the practice, you’ll find Aidan travelling all over the world, keeping up-to-date with the newest advancements in dentistry.

Dr Julie L Burke

Julie Burke gained a degree in Dental Surgery from the University of Leeds School of Dentistry, UK, in 1995 and obtained her Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FDS.RCS) in 1999. In 2011, she completed her PhD in Tissue Engineering at Leeds University. She holds a Diploma in Conscious Sedation and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Dr Burke has held NHS and University posts within the specialties of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery after completing vocational training in 1997. Julie now splits her time between working as a Specialist Oral Surgeon and Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Lancashire. Julie provides treatments for child, adolescents and adult patients under local anaesthesia with or without inhalational or intravenous sedation. Oral surgery treatments include simple or surgical removal of teeth, roots and wisdom teeth as well as exposure or removal of impacted canines, supernumeraries and soft tissue work such as excisional biopsies of benign-looking lesions (e.g.polyps,mucoceles, frenectomies), in addition to the management of cystic lesions of the jaws (including enucleation and apicectomy). She is also happy to offer advice or a second opinion for oral medicine/ surgery issues.

Outside of work, Julie spends most of her time with her family walking and playing in the glorious Scottish Countryside and beaches.

Dr Claire Black

BDS (Belfast), MFDS RCPS, MSc Endodontology (Distinction)

Dr Claire Black graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast in 2007. She has a special interest in endodontics (root treatment) and has acquired advanced skills through completion of three years postgraduate training resulting in an MSc in Endodontology, with distinction. She has also attained the MFDS qualification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow.

In conjunction with these qualifications, Claire has built up nearly 20 years experience of dental practice, refining her skills and treatment to highest level. She is well known for her warm and friendly approach, making even the most anxious patient feel at ease during treatment.

Outside of dentistry she is kept busy with her two young daughters and enjoys running, cycling and yoga.

Dr Omar Iqbal

Dental Surgeon BDS (Glasgow), MSc Dental Implantology (Bristol)

Dr Omar Iqbal qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2005 and since then he has worked to continually improve his skills. In 2008 he attained the MJDF qualification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons England.

Omar is excellent at helping anxious patients with his calming nature. He is also very experienced in providing dental sedation which can allow even the most phobic patients undergo treatment.

Omar has a keen interest in dental implants, replacing missing teeth and treating anxious patients. His dental implant training started in 2011 when he completed 18 months of training at the University of Sheffield. Following on from this he joined the International Team for Implantology, which aims to promote continuing development and increasing knowledge in the field of dental implants.

He has also completed advanced implant placement courses, in South Africa at the prestigious Branemark Institute and in Portugal at the Malo Clinic. In 2018 Omar completed a three years Masters degree with merit, in dental implants at the University of Bristol.

Since completing his Masters degree, Omar has worked with Bristol University as a postgraduate supervisor for students completing their dental implant research projects. He is also involved with mentoring and training fellow dentists in placing dental implants.

Dr Ross Pencovich

Dr. Pencovich graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2016.

Following this Ross completed vocational training where he developed a keen interest in painless dentistry and restoring patient’s smiles. Subsequently, Ross successfully complete 2 years of hospital based postgraduate training where he gained experience in treating complex cases under consultant supervision.

In addition to developing his clinical skills, Ross presented at several national/international conferences, gained publication in high profile dental journals and co-founded the Aberdeen Odontological Society.

Ross’ rotations included restorative dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics and time spent working within the public dental service. More recently Ross has gained membership to the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow and is also currently undergoing a P.G. Diploma in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry.

Dr Christopher Jordan

Dr Christopher Jordan is an award-winning dentist with a special interest in intravenous (IV) sedation and the care of anxious or phobic patients. Having seen first-hand how dental fear can prevent people from accessing essential care, Chris founded SedaDent in 2022 — a mobile IV sedation service created to make safe, high-quality conscious sedation more widely available across Scotland.

Through SedaDent, Chris supports practices and their patients by delivering tailored IV sedation sessions in a familiar setting, helping individuals overcome anxiety and complete treatment in comfort and confidence. His calm manner, attention to detail, and commitment to patient safety have earned him the trust of both colleagues and patients alike.

Recognised as Young Dentist of the Year at the Private Dentistry Awards 2024, Chris is also passionate about raising awareness of sedation within dentistry and mentoring clinicians undertaking their own sedation training. His goal is to ensure that every patient who needs support through sedation can access it — safely, compassionately, and without fear.

Dr Ciaran McCann

After graduating from the University of Dundee in 2020, Dr. Ciaran McCann commenced his dental career working the last 5 years in general practice where he continued his professional development, strengthening his knowledge and skills.

Dr. Ciaran provides general and restorative dentistry with a special interest in removable prosthetics, and has completed several post graduate courses to deliver high quality and satisfying treatment for his patients.

Miss Stacey Provan

Stacey graduated with Distinction as a dually qualified Dental Hygienist and Therapist from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2016. Since then she has gained a wealth of experience working in both NHS and private practice and for the Public Dental Service. She is trained in inhalation sedation and also elements of cognitive behavioural therapy, modalities that can help dentally anxious patients accept treatment.

In November 2023, Stacey obtained a Masters Degree in Public Health and has a keen interest in the epidemiology of tooth decay, particularly in Scotlands child population. As part of her role in the Public Dental Service, Stacey is a dental inspector for the National Dental Inspection Programme and also a clinical supervisor for undergraduate dental therapy students.

Miss Ellie Hinks
